Home   »   Is It Time to Break Up With Your Brand? (Spoiler: Yes.)

You ever stayed in a relationship longer than you should have?

Yeah… your brand might be that ex.

We don’t talk about it much in ministry or small business circles, but many of us are holding on to branding that no longer fits where we’re going. It’s not that it was never right — it probably served its purpose for a season. But now? It’s giving “stuck,” “unclear,” and dare I say… “2005 clip art vibes.”

Let’s talk about it.

  1. You’ve Outgrown Your Message

The biggest red flag that your brand needs a refresh? You’re doing big things, but your message is still playing small.

If your current website, logo, or messaging doesn’t reflect what God has been doing in your life or business lately, it’s time to pause and realign. We serve a God who does new things — and your brand should reflect that fresh oil.

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” – Isaiah 43:19

That verse isn’t just about spiritual growth. It applies to how we show up in the marketplace too.

  1. Your Look Doesn’t Match Your Level

You’ve grown, but your visuals stayed behind. Inconsistent fonts and colors confuse people—build a cohesive visual system. First impressions happen in seconds; your design should instantly say clarity, confidence, and credibility.

Cohesion looks like this: use 1–2 typefaces with a clear hierarchy, a tight 2–3 color palette with 1–2 accents, and a consistent image style (filters, lighting, or illustration). Repeat components—buttons, frames, icon styles, spacing—so every touchpoint feels related.

Make it easy to execute: save 3 go-to Canva templates, lock a simple brand kit (fonts, colors, spacing), and check contrast/legibility on mobile. Excellence is ministry, too—when your look matches your level, trust rises and action follows.

  1. People Keep Asking “So… What Do You Do Again?”

Cue the internal eye-roll.

If you’re constantly re-explaining your mission, services, or vision — it’s not always their fault. It’s your branding. (Yes, friend, I said what I said.)

Clear branding eliminates confusion. And where there is clarity, there is confidence — not just for your audience, but for you. You’ll be more confident in what you offer when you have a cohesive brand that reflects who you are today — not who you were five years ago.

My Personal “Come to Jesus” Branding Moment

Wanna know how I knew it was time to rebrand 29Eleven Media?

I had outgrown the look, the feel, and even the language I was using. My heart had shifted. My strategy had matured. I had more testimonies, more tools, and more truth to share. But my brand was still whispering when I needed it to proclaim.

So, I decided to practice what I preach. I pressed pause and began rebuilding. Not for hype. Not for likes. But because I knew that if I was going to “market truth,” I had to start with mine.

Rebranding Isn’t a Crisis — It’s a Calling

Let me set somebody free right here: changing your brand isn’t a sign that you’re flaky or inconsistent.

It means you’ve grown. You’ve evolved. And your purpose is calling you to show up with integrity in how you present yourself to the world.

This is especially important for my ministry leaders and nonprofit founders — your work is too important to be buried under unclear messaging and uninspired visuals. Steward it well.

3 Things You Can Do Right Now

  1. Do a Brand Audit:
Take a hard look at your website, social profiles, logo, and tagline. Do they still reflect what you stand for?
  2. Ask 3 People What They Think You Do:
If their answers don’t align with your vision, your branding isn’t doing its job.
  3. Pray for Branding Clarity:
Yes, pray. God cares about your impact. Ask Him for direction on how to align your visuals, messaging, and strategy with His plan.

Let’s Walk This Out Together

I’m inviting you to Rebrand With Me.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be pulling back the curtain on what it looks like to rebuild a brand with intention, integrity, and inspiration. Not the Pinterest-perfect version — the real, late-night Canva sessions, prayerful planning, “delete and try again” version.

If you’ve been feeling that tug — that holy nudge that something needs to shift — this is your sign.

You’re not crazy. You’re being called higher.

Know Your Why.
Serve with Strategy.
Market Your Truth.
